The model, explained plainly for prescribers and pharmacists
This page is for BC physicians, nurse practitioners, and pharmacists who want to understand how Vytals works before engaging with it. We aim to be factual about roles, fees, and the duty of care. Vytals is not the prescriber and not the lab.
How a request moves through the system
Patient builds a request
A patient assembles a requested panel through an interactive tool. Building a panel is a request, not an order. Nothing is sent to a laboratory automatically.
Prescriber reviews and decides
An independent licensed BC prescriber reviews each request and exercises independent clinical judgment to authorize or decline. Authorization is a clinical decision, not a formality, and is not guaranteed for any given test.
Contracted lab performs the work
A contracted, licensed laboratory performs the draws and the analysis. Vytals does not operate a laboratory and does not perform testing itself.
Pharmacist results review
Carebridge pharmacists provide results review and follow-up, offering plain-language interpretation and next steps within their scope of practice.
Escalation and duty of care
Abnormal or urgent results are flagged and escalated through a defined duty-of-care workflow, with follow-up so a patient is not left alone with a worrying result.
Data handled in Canada
Personal and health information is handled under BC PIPA and PIPEDA, stored and processed in Canada, encrypted in transit and at rest.
No fee-splitting, no inducement
Each party charges an independent, legitimate service fee for the service it provides. The prescriber's authorization fee is a professional fee for clinical review. The laboratory charges its own fees for collection and analysis. Any Carebridge service, consultation, or dispensing is billed separately as its own service. These are not referral kickbacks, and there is no fee-splitting or inducement between the parties.
A prescriber's decision to authorize or decline is a clinical decision and is not tied to volume or to any downstream sale. Patients are free to fill any resulting prescription at any pharmacy they choose. Carebridge is available if a patient wants it, but it is never a requirement.
Referral-only and clinically gated
Specialized prescription-only therapies, for example growth hormone, are referral-only and clinically gated. They are not marketed to the public through the panel builder, and they are not something a patient can request on their own. Any such therapy sits behind an appropriate clinical pathway and prescriber oversight.

Clinical content and results support are reviewed by pharmacists Arash Pourzare, Pharm.D and Behnaz Alijani, Pharm.D. Test descriptions are written in plain language: what a test measures and one honest reason someone might consider it, without hype, fear, or implied diagnosis. Results are presented as information, not as a diagnosis.
